What we've been up to

Our New flower beds!  I'm so excited and hopeful they will live!  Wish me luck!
p.s. that's my Mother's Day hanging flower plant from my sweet husband and daughter! I LOVE IT! It's so gorgeous and has really bloomed recently!

Then I asked and begged my sweetheart to paint the ugliness of the peak on our house, it was all chipped and yucky and so he did!  Bless him, he ruined his favorite black shirt, now he better go buy a new one for his efforts! Yeah, I did just say that. I really wanted our house all spiffed up for our FIRST HOUSE GUESTS!

My parents are coming to visit us and I'm pretty excited!  My little bro Noah is coming too!  It will be a full house, that's not hard when it's two bedroom and 860 square feet but we are totally going to slumber party it up!  We considered putting them in a tent in the backyard, but decided since they never camp..ever, we better keep them indoors! (just kidding mom, we weren't actually going to put you in a tent, we will even provide room service here!!  Oh YEah!)  We plan to be gracious hosts. Can't wait for them to come and show them a good Williston time!~

I also experimented with some pinterest treats...lets just say....successs! Making them again on Sunday, but I'll have to do 3 batches, making sandwiches significantly decreased the amount of cookies, naturally.
These cuties are 1 box of choc cake mix, one egg, 1/2 cup butter.  mix mix, it's crumbly, but you shape it into balls, then smoosh them down with a jar to flatten the balls, cook at 350 for 8-10 minutes.Let cool. Frost with whatever, roll in sprinkles!  Cuteness!  And Yumminess!

These puppies are none other then good old biscuits from from those cans in the refrigerator aisle.  I always get nervous opening those cans and wait for the paper tearing to POP the can! haha, my mom must have made me opening them as a child and I have repressed memories of the POP!
I just poked a hole in them (you can cut out one so you have donut holes too).  Then Fry Daddied them. Frost or Cinamon sugar! An Mmm Mmm Good Family Home Evening treat!

And lastly....I had my hair fixed like this the other day and this guy says to me at church, "Oh my gosh, I never realized this before but now I can totally see it, You look just like Keri Russell, She and I grew up together."   I wasn't sure if I was shocked by the 'he grew up with her' part or that she's gorgeous.  Made me feel good. That's a new one, never been told I looked like her before.  But I'll take it.

Green thumb and then some...

It's Friday Folks and these are the thoughts most recently on my mind:

See!
I told you I kept something alive!
Evidence above (the two green plants close to the camera) and way in the far corner is another green plant!
I'm so excited.
Okay, but I really can't take all the credit, if it weren't for my husband watering the grass/plants, they would probably be dead.
Thanks again!
And below is the lovely green grass with our cute little 50's house.

Speaking of the 50's.
I came across some incredible blogs.
Why the 50's?
Wondering what the connection is?
Well....you should browse through this blog
and make sure you view these two posts:

and
(in this next post, you'll see my 50's gal
...I so wished I lived back then, I love their clothes)

It made me SO appreciate the simple art of motherhood and womanhood.
She helped me open my eyes to the appreciation of a happy and orderly home.
Thank you Jenifer (whom I don't even know).

Here are some of my 50's looks!
I Love the skirt in the first pic
...which happens to be vintage from my dearest grandmother!
Coincidentally the same shoes are in both pics
....compliments of my fashionable mother who bought them for me!

Check out this site http://www.bluevelvetvintage.com/ for the cute dresses below
I'm just in love with the style!
I love poofy skirts!
Wish it was more in style now

She has a series of blog posts about:
"Things I've learned about being a mom"
Oh how I appreciate these posts.
It makes me stop and re-evaluate my mothering.
And to realize there is no right or wrong way.
And to smile!

Last thing: My amazing daughter, Autumn had to present her 4th grade research paper on "Sakakawea" for North Dakota History and she did A-MAZ-ING!!!
She spoke slow, had it half memorized and looked up the whole time!
She was awesome!
I secretly video taped it....she doesn't know yet, but I know she'll be glad I did!
Here is here on her Cruiser bike!
Definitely VINTAGE 50's style!

Love it!

Warning: Greek Yogurt is...uh...UGH!

Either I got the wrong kind or my tastebuds were not prepared for this super NOT sweet, NOT yogurty tasting food.  I thought it would just be your normal tasting yogurt.  I mean, I knew it would be plain because I bought plain (now I'm kind of wishing I had bought the Honey flavored one, but that sounded weird).  I mean all the yogurt I've ever had was yoplait fruity flavored yogurt.
I was trying to go a little healthier and I've heard Greek Yogurt is healthy and all, so I did it. Again, I didn't just eat it plain (I knew better), I mixed in some blackberries and some Super Cereal (you know, it has sunflower seeds, almonds, coconut, oatmeal, raisins, etc).
All I can say is it tastes and kind of looks like what I imagine baby throw up would taste and look like (but it's been awhile since I've held a baby who has spit up on me and I've never had the pleasure of receiving the spit up straight to the mouth, the smell is enough to give me an idea of the taste).
Sorry for the graphic description but I am so dissappointed in my $5 greek yogurt that I just purchased.
Grrr... Guess I will try drenching it in honey to see if it helps it not taste like sour curdled milk...which I suppose that is kind of what yogurt is anyway right? I just put a TON more of the super cereal into it to mask the taste.  My tummy isn't liking it anymore.
Sorry for the dissappointing warning about greek yogurt or atleast this kind.
Please help me if I did something wrong with this yogurt and if there is something I should know about it to make me like it more.  I'm going to go check the expiration date to make sure THAT isn't the reason it tastes sour and baby spit uppy. (nope...expires June 4)

I guess I will have to use it for those recipes that say you can substitute a cup of Greek Yogurt to make your "whatevers" more healthy.

So... enjoy your day folks!  {while I gag down this yogurt}
It is nice here in North Dakota.  Loving the weather!
p.s. Our grass in our yard might be the greenest in town.  My IDAHO native hubby has some serious farming and fertilizing skills for our lovely little yard!  Good work Wade! AND I even managed to only kill 2 plants/bushes from last year!  I still have 3 that are alive!  Hooray!!!
